HEBREWS
The authorship of the book of Hebrews is unclear. Some historians suspect that it was written by Paul’s friend Apollos, and others attribute it to Barnabas. Some suggest that Priscilla may have written it, and still others feel that it could have been written by Phillip. While most early Christian leaders consider Paul to be the author, this book stands as a superb, literary Greek masterpiece. The purpose of this epistle is to reassure Jewish believers that despite opposition and persecution, faith in Jesus was both secure and reasonable.
You will notice the teaching style of T. E. Lee consistently includes these components:
-
- The verse text in Greek (from the Septuagint)
- The verse text in English
- A definition of words from the original language
- An exegesis of the text
- Supplementary quotes by revered theologians
This Study Guide was initially intended as a series of Sunday School lessons and is equally useful for sermon preparation or individual Bible study.
