Encouragement in Adversity: Hope for the Hurting Heart

Encouragement in Adversity: Hope for the Hurting Heart

This book is dedicated to Marsha and Lou, friends for over fifty years. They lost a young adult son in a tragic automobile accident, then dealt with the illness and passing of their parents. They were confronted with a potentially devastating medical diagnosis, then discovered that their financial advisor had stolen and squandered their life savings, leaving them with virtually nothing. Through it all their trust in a Sovereign, loving God never wavered, and their attitude through adversity has been both inspiring and humbling.

To those who are facing overwhelming adversity, I encourage you to claim God’s promise found in Isaiah 41:10:

 “Do not fear, for I am with you;
Do not be afraid, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you; I will help you;
I will hold on to you with my righteous right hand”. (HCSB)

 My prayer is that your courage in the face of severe trials will be an encouragement to others.

 “He comforts us in our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any kind of affliction, through the comfort we ourselves receive from God”.
(1 Cor. 1:4 HCSB)
