INFLUENCE - Leadership Skills For Everyone

INFLUENCE - Leadership Skills For Everyone

I have always been interested in the qualities that define the effective leader. I have read just about every leadership book that I could get my hands on and have consumed vast numbers of recordings by leadership gurus such as John Maxwell, Steven Covey and numerous others. I have observed effective leaders and managers who were in leadership roles but didn’t seem to command the respect or the loyalty of those in their charge. Someone once wisely said, “If you think you are leading but no one is following you, you are just taking a walk!”

This book is designed to explore the various traits that an effective leader must possess. My list is not an exhaustive list, but one that I have discovered after more than fifty years of observing others, studying leadership, and practicing those skills in my vocation, which has been music ministry and high school instrumental teaching.

Proverbs 15:22 makes this statement, “Plans fail when there is no counsel, but with many advisors they succeed.” I encourage you to read this book thoughtfully, apply each chapter heading to your specific situation, and learn as much as you can
through both observation and personal study. You can and will be an effective leader, and not just someone who is taking a walk!
